BARNABY WOODS

The question here was: what do you do with the kids? This Tudor revival home appears small from the front, but contains some dramatic interior spaces. A new Kitchen/Dining/Family Room addition created lively and functional spaces at the first floor, but with a steeply sloping rear yard, the economical choice for new bedrooms was below the addition, at the level of the rear yard. In the end, there is a renovated Master Suite at the First Floor, two bedrooms at the Second Floor and two bedrooms at the Lower Level, along with a new Rec Room. The open ceiling and new beams at the Family Room echoes the space at the existing Living Room (see black and white photo) without copying it directly. The Family Room spills out onto an open deck at the rear, which offers a commanding view of the lower yard and stream below.
